Time
This morning I woke up with the old Rolling Stones song, Time Is On My Side, playing in my mind.
Not sure why, other than that it was perhaps the cue to write this for you.
That song resonated differently years ago than it does today.
Remember what it was like feeling immortal?
It’s true, as the Napoleon Hill quote, I led with alludes that time as in the passage of hours is somewhat irrelevant, but that it’s rather how we use it that counts. This is true in our work as he suggests, but in the rest of life too.
Time is the most valuable commodity that we have. It is finite and once it’s gone, it’s gone; and none of us even knows how much we have of it.
In fact, the only decision we really get about time is about what to do with it.
All we must do to understand what most do is listen to the choice of worlds- most spend, pass or even waste time, by their own admission.
And that’s ok for them. After all, its theirs and only they can choose what to do with it.
As for me, I choose to invest it.
I invest time training my body and mind, sowing into important relationships, building my business and improving my life and those of others.
I love investing time, because it has such a great return on investment.
No other investment does as well.
I only wish I’d have started younger. As we know by the financial principal of compound interest, time is even more powerful than amount when saving for retirement.
Fortunately, I’ll probably never do that anyway, I love what I do too much…
This is why I enjoy sowing into youth so much though.
I’m sure you have also said “if I’d only known then”; you finished that sentence, didn’t you.
The best way to reconcile that feeling for me is to sow the knowledge into my sons and students and anyone who will listen, so that they m,ay have the blessing of knowing what I wish I’d known.
And it’s not too late to sow into ourselves too my friends.
You can teach an old dog new tricks- I’m proof of it.
And, so far as we know, time is still on our side.
Invest in you in something new.
