About Our School
Stephen Del Castillo’s KMMA is an American Martial Arts and leadership development academy that also happens to teach the most practical self defense. Based on Grandmaster Del Castillo’s 40+ years of martial arts experience, the system incorporates the best of Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Kickboxing and Krav Maga technique, training methods and philosophies.
As importantly, the Blackbelt Leadership curriculum draws upon decades of progressive leadership experience and training, academic training in philosophy, communication and psychology, and over 24 years creating confident and competent Blackbelt Leaders. These “products of the product” are now leaders in their academic, business and military careers, as well as right here in our own Blackbelt Leadership Academy.
ALL of our instructors are Blackbelt Leadership graduates of the program; the same one that they now help teach.
Our system not only develops fitness and self defense skills in youth and families, but also focus, respect, discipline, confidence, gratitude and vision- plus character and leadership skills.
We prepare students to survive and thrive in any situation, and empower them to lead- where they’re at and into their futures!
We are a family academy, so parents can join their children on the blackbelt leadership journey- getting in the best shape physically, mentally and spiritually, while also having fun and learning very practical self defense! And, while classes are broken into groups so that each age can get exactly what they need, the whole family gets to train together!

A Word from Grandmaster Stephen Del Castillo
Founding Master Instructor Stephen Del Castillo
Grandmaster Stephen J. Del Castillo is the Founder and Master Instructor of Krav Maga Martial Arts. He is an 8th degree Blackbelt with over 38 years experience, as well as an MBA and a Former Captain in the U.S. Army. He has been operating our Martial Arts Academy since October of 2000. Shihan Del Castillo is A Master Instructor on the Board of Directors of Blackbelt Schools International. He has been Instructor Certified by Krav Maga Worldwide, International Krav Maga Federation and Krav Maga Global and has won numerous awards and accolades in the martial arts, including Master Instructor of the Year and Best Regional Martial Arts school by the World Head of Family Sokeship Council. For all of Grand Master Del Castillo’s personal accomplishments, though, he says his greatest pride comes from the many great Blackbelts that have grown up at KMMA and gone onto amazing leadership positions either here as instructors or in the US military, business, college or ministry work. He is happily married to Barbara Del Castillo and the proud father of five. When Master Del Castillo isn’t training people in the martial arts or training other trainers to do so, he enjoys reading, training, church and family time and touring on his Harley Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle.

Real-World Self Defense
We also happen to teach the most practical self defense in the world. We pray for the best but train for the worst. We will train your body and mind to survive any threat, defend your family and get home safe. Krav Maga is the self defense system of the Israeli military and teaches self defense versus modern day threats including strikes, grabs and holds, stick, knife and gun.

I am a firm believer that God will use anything to make us the person he wants us to be. Late in my twenties, I was diagnosed with ADHD. I had learned to compensate for ADHD, but I knew there had to be more to improving my life and being the person God called me to be. One day I set a goal to improve my focus, lower the stress level, and increase my confidence. As my daughter and I did KMMA together, through the Blackbelt Leadership program, my focus began to improve, my stress level lowered, and my confidence began to shine. I am also a firm believer that God will also throw in a bonus just to show you how good he is. Recently, my husband commented that he noticed how calm and courageous I had become. He noticed I was no longer codependent with certain areas of my life. I didn't even know it at the time because I was so focused on my goal. Today I can say I have lowered my stress, improved my focus, improved my physical health, made new friends, become a better parent, strengthened my confidence, and have become a fearless, courageous leader. Though I have a goal of becoming a Sensi and later a Shihan, I have a long way to go. I never want to stop learning. I want my daughter to see how strong of a leader her mother is and serve as a role model for her. The Blackbelt Leadership program is just one way you can become the leader you need to be.
