Sowing and Growing, Not Like Weeds
I really liked Sensei Allie’s email Saturday, about the memories she and my sons, and many other kids that grew up in my dojo had of the special events.
It’s the training- the mental, physical and emotional training- that prepares them to survive and thrive in their adult lives.
But it’s also cool that they are a part of a tribe of other great kids they can grow up with and make memories with too.
Speaking of memories, I have so many with so many of them also.
The years of sowing into my sons, and all the other confident and competent Blackbelt Leaders that are Sensei and Masters of our tribe today…
these are some of my most meaningful memories in so many ways.
I know the time won’t come again and, while I didn’t do everything perfectly and while I am also not finished (in the sense that I plan to have a great relationship with my kids, and all my blackbelts, for as long as they’ll let me), knowing that I did my best to help them be their very best- and even to empower them to be the ones doing the same for others today…
well, those are feelings I can hardly explain.
Raising up these kids to become the amazing adults they are today is some of the most important, and most fulfilling, work I have ever done.
I am proud of and grateful for them all; and always delighted watching them sow into the next generation of future Blackbelt Leaders.

About Grandmaster Stephen J. Del Castillo: Grandmaster Del Castillo is the founding Master Instructor of Krav Maga Martial Arts and has been empowering lives in Pasco and Hillsborough Counties since October of 2000. He is a 7th degree Blackbelt, MBA, author, mentor and success coach, a US Army Veteran and a proud father and grandfather. He is married to Ms. Barbara Del Castillo who helps him run the school. Grand Master Del Castillo began his training in the early 80’s and has high level blackbelts in Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Premier Martial Arts and Krav Maga Martial Arts as well as experience in kickboxing, Jeet Kune Do and Jiujitsu. He has high level instructor certifications from BBSI, IKMF, and KMG and has been featured in numerous Martial Arts publications and also Success magazine. He was a competitive sport karate and American Kickboxing instructor until he enlisted in the US Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division, where he won an Army Green to Gold scholarship and proceeded to ROTC and the University of Tampa. He was commisioned in 1992 and went on to serve in Germany with the 3rd Infantry Division and then in several other posts in the US until he left military service to pursue his dream of creating KMMA in 2000.
