Rather you are in a formal position of leadership or not; you are a leader.
Rather you think so or not, you are leading.
The relevant choice, then, is rather you choose to do it well or do not.
It is my firm belief everyone is leading or at least has the potential to lead.
Leadership, after all, is influence and with very rare exceptions there is someone else influenced by your actions and decisions.
This is especially true for parenting, by the way, and there are few other callings wherein the repercussions of our leadership last as long as in this one;
So listen up mom and dad!
Our job is to raise up a child in the way he or she should go so that when our children grow up they will not depart from it.
We are called to train up our children with the skills, attitude and understanding to survive and thrive during their adult life.
I can think of no greater calling than that.
So, if you are a parent, know that you’re definitely a leader.
Know too that Albert Schweitzer’s quote is also an inconvenient truth-
they learn more from what we do than from what we say.
Of course this principle is also true in every other type of leadership.
The Team will emulate the leader; the student the teacher.
All leaders must realize that how we act and react- what they do- is even more important than what we say.
John Maxwell’s Law of the Lid also teaches us that our leadership ability determines our level of effectiveness.
This is to say, transparently and directly, that one’s level of leadership ability is the most important indicator of their subsequent level of success;
however proficient one may be at their particular calling or craft, leadership is the limiting factor.
That’s why we take it so seriously at Krav Maga Martial Arts.
We are a leadership development academy that also happens to teach the most practical self defense in the world.
Students get focused and fit, have fun, make new friends, gain confidence and learn great self defense skills but, most importantly,
we empower them to lead.

About Grandmaster Stephen J. Del Castillo: Grandmaster Del Castillo is the founding Master Instructor of Krav Maga Martial Arts and has been empowering lives in Pasco and Hillsborough Counties since October of 2000. He is a 7th degree Blackbelt, MBA, author, mentor and success coach, a US Army Veteran and a proud father and grandfather. He is married to Ms. Barbara Del Castillo who helps him run the school. Grand Master Del Castillo began his training in the early 80’s and has high level blackbelts in Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Premier Martial Arts and Krav Maga Martial Arts as well as experience in kickboxing, Jeet Kune Do and Jiujitsu. He has high level instructor certifications from BBSI, IKMF, and KMG and has been featured in numerous Martial Arts publications and also Success magazine. He was a competitive sport karate and American Kickboxing instructor until he enlisted in the US Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division, where he won an Army Green to Gold scholarship and proceeded to ROTC and the University of Tampa. He was commisioned in 1992 and went on to serve in Germany with the 3rd Infantry Division and then in several other posts in the US until he left military service to pursue his dream of creating KMMA in 2000.
