I Guarantee

Made the below post on my personal facebook page yesterday, and it’s so true…

Today I’m grateful for the great training Sensei John and are receiving, and the great training the rest of my team is giving my tribe back home. #ilovekmma

And it got me thinking about The Blackbelt Guarantee.

   I ask my students “how many of you wold like to be a Blackbelt?” The hands go up.

“if I could tell you how to guarantee you will make it to Blackbelt, would you want to know that?”

      Of course they would.

So I continue, “there are four steps to guarantee you will make it to Blackbelt:

1. First, you have to say you want to be a Blackbelt. You just did that so you’re off to a good start.

2. You have to put it in writing, and give it a date. We have this Vision sheet you can use to do that.

3. You have to train like a Blackbelt.

4. Never quit.”

It’s a very empowering thing for the students to know exactly the proven plan to guarantee they will accomplish their goal! 

   It can work for you too, in any area of life.

1. Decide what it is you really want. To truly succeed at anything, you have to have a burning desire. You have to know what you want! And you have to declare that you will have it!

2. But it’s still a dream until you put it in writing. A goal is a dream that we set a date to and put in writing. Then put it somewhere you can see it every day.

3. Then you have to do the work! You have to train like a Blackbelt!

    In our program, we teach the students that training like a Blackbelt is making their classes every week, doing the best while they’re there, doing the character work and homework… in short, doing what it takes to accomplish the goal.

Like Grandmaster Smith says when he visits, “don’t give me lip service. Show me you want to be a Blackbelt!”

   I probably don’t need to elaborate more how it is the same with anything we claim we want to accomplish? 

   Don’t give me lip service. 😉

4. Most people quit whatever worthy goal they were achieving just before they would have won. Only those that do don’t… Those that win didn’t quit that is.

To win at anything great, don’t quit!

About Grandmaster Stephen J. Del Castillo: Grandmaster Del Castillo is the founding Master Instructor of Krav Maga Martial Arts and has been empowering lives in Pasco and Hillsborough Counties since October of 2000.
