Hold On Loosely

Today I want to write a little about how I raise up my teams of martial arts professionals for Krav Maga Martial Arts.

We have the best of the best instructors in every way.

Each and all are martial arts professionals, dedicated to raving fan customer service, delivering on our promises to help students overcome areas of opportunity- some kids need more focus, some more confidence, some self control, while most adults come for fitness and self control. We prepare our students to survive and thrive in any situation and empower them to lead, where they’re at and into their futures.

Our team is dedicated to that Mission too.

And, of course, through this all, our Sensei also ensure students have fun, get a great workout and learn something new- specifically, practical self defense that could save their life one day.

Certainly the awesome training program they go through is part of it.

KMMA professionals are graduates of our Blackbelt Leadership Training Course (LTC) and Certified Instructor Training (CIT). They also graduate Martial Arts Professional (MAP) College, and train 6-10 hours every week.

But an important part of their growth and development is doing the job.

My job is to let them do it.

I train them, lead them, coach and mentor them…

but I don’t do it for them.

One of the hardest lessons I have learned, in the last couple of decades of raising them up, is to hold on loosely…

    but not let go.

If you cling too tightly, you’re gonna lose control
Your baby needs someone to believe in
And a whole lot of space to breathe in.

Ok, I hope you sang that. 🙂

But seriously, I have come to believe that it is the key.

To raising a team, a child or any person we are charged with raising.

Hold on loosely.

  Teach, train and trust.

Prepare To Live; Empower To Lead!
