Had a Bad Day?
hello KMMA tribe,
Have you had a “bad” day lately?
I was having a bad morning this morning…
well, not really. I got up and did my prayers, wrote my goals, did my personal and professional development and got a good workout in.
But for some reason, I was letting some little things get to me.
I was making it a bad day.
Have you ever done that. I think that you likely have. I think everyone has.
Of course, I could be wrong.
Anyway, as is often the case, God sent me just the reminder I needed to hear.
It was from one of my virtual mentors, Darren Hardy.
Here’s the podcast if you wanna listen to it too.
Here’s the cliff notes if not:
1. Get a grip. You’re not alone. Everyone goes through obstacles.
2. Control the controllable. Focus on the things you can control and let go of all the rest. 99% of the mental burden will be lifted. What happens doesn’t control our destiny; how we respond does.
3. Ask for help.
4. Just keep moving. Do what’s important next.
Of course I already know all this.
In fact, two of the lessons that I teach through my Blackbelt Leadership Program at my martial arts academy are:
1. The 10/90 rule- that life is 10% what happens and 90% how we react to what happens, and
2. Circle of concern and control- that only the union of those two circles is where we should invest our time, energy and attention (TEA).
But knowing something intellectually isn’t enough to benefit from it.
In fact, in the words of Aristotle, “knowledge without action is useless.”
It’s why it’s important that we ruminate in wisdom.
And that’s why what we listen to, read and who we associate with is so important.
When we’re having a bad day, but are reminded positive, right and noble truths, we get back on track quickly.
When we are feeding on negative associations (through what we read, watch and hear) we will ruminate in that- and that rumination leads to ruin.
It’s why our Blackbelt Leadership Program serves up so much positive and edifying material- to prepare students to survive and thrive in any situation, while also empowering them to lead, where they’re at and into their future.
Improve your associations by joining our tribe.
Prepare To Live; Empower To Lead!
