Focus
My beautiful grandson, Triton, was “upset” with me this morning for having all the campers read this story (I’m sharing below) about him from my book this morning. 🙂
But I don’t think he was really that upset; inside I think he’s proud, and rightfully so.
The story was of an interaction with him a couple of years ago by the way; he’s seven today.
Anyways, I am going to share the story with you here too and, if you’d like to download a free copy of the book for yourself, you can do so at TampaKravmaga.com, where you can also sign up for a 2 week free trial.

And, here are the 3 take-aways from the story that I shared with my camper students this morning about this sub-chapter/blog:
- Unlike flight and shooting lava from your hands, Focus is a superpower which is real and that you can develop in yourselves and those you’re raising.
- Like all my Blackbelt Superpowerpowers, it is a super power in that:
- it is rare;
- those that possess it accomplish superhuman things and;
- it can be used not only for self but in the service of others.
- Developing Focus is simple, but not easy. Here are a few things you can do to start focusing on your focus.
- For the Focus that denotes the ability to block out distractions and concentrate on what’s important:
- Practice focusing where you are at and on one thing at a time. Gradually increase the time you can do it.
- For said time, and any time that requires Focus, elminate distractions, including and especially, from alerts, motifications and your phone, email and sopcial media in general.
- Focus your eyes, focus your ears, focus your mind and focus your body.
- For the positive Focus of energy:
- Focus on what you want instead of what you don’t want.
- Catch yourself when you fail at the above suggestion and redirect yourself to more positive thoughts.
- Train yourself for this by reading the right books, listening to the right audio, watching the right videoos and associating with the right group.

1.4 Focus Is My Superpower
My Grandson asked me last night if I have any powers, and I said yes. When he asked me
what my super power was, I told him “Focus”.
He said, “that’s just normal Ninja stuff ‘Buelo!” Which of course brought a chuckle to me, and then continued, “powers are like flying or shooting lava from your hands”.
While I am sure that the powers of flight and of lava projection are cool too, I am here to tell you that Focus is a Superpower!
Energy flows where focus goes. We get more of what we focus on. The first step towards developing this power is just to believe that it’s real.
Many people stay in negative cycles where they “never get a break” or everything bad seems to continuously happen to them or “every time I start to get ahead something comes and knocks me down”.
The first step towards changing that is to stop saying that- and to also eradicate the self limiting belief that someone else just has it easier or better, doesn’t have their own problems they’re negotiating and/or that it just comes easy to them.
This kind of thinking is not only not helpful, but also just isn’t true. Focus is a Superpower- and works for evil as well as good (it depends what you focus on!)
I was having a discussion with someone recently who told me that I’ve just always had willpower to do what I say I am going to do and that it just doesn’t come naturally to her.
I explained that it doesn’t come easy to anyone.
It’s just that every time I do what I tell myself I am going to do I get stronger, just like every time I don’t the opposite is true. Willpower, like Focus and ALL of the superpowers are as available as they are elusive to all. They get stronger with practice and weaker (or worse) without practice.
Choose to develop the Superpower of Focus in your life and in your kids. It’s the one that can lead to all the rest.
Prepare To Live; Empower To Lead!
