Don’t Let a Setback Become a Stop Sign
It’s easy to stay committed when things are going well.
You’re making progress. You’re learning new skills. You can see the results of your hard work, and you feel motivated to keep going.
But what happens when things don’t go as planned?
Maybe you’re struggling with a technique that just won’t click. Maybe school or work gets overwhelming. Maybe you’ve been putting in the effort but aren’t seeing the results you expected.
These are the moments that test your commitment.
One of the most important parts of the Law of the Process is learning to protect the things that help you succeed.
That means recognizing when frustration starts making decisions for you. It means not letting a busy schedule turn into a reason to abandon your priorities. And it means understanding that one setback doesn’t erase the progress you’ve already made.
Remember Sensei Allie’s lesson about focusing on the goal instead of the obstacle?
That principle matters here.
You can’t always control what gets in your way. But you can choose how you respond.
If you’re struggling, ask your Sensei for help. If your approach isn’t working, be willing to adjust it. If you’ve fallen out of a good routine, take responsibility and get back to it.
And when the challenge feels bigger than you can handle alone, remember:
Team Up, Never Give Up.
You don’t have to figure everything out by yourself.
Here’s a question worth asking yourself today:
What’s one thing threatening to pull your attention away from a goal that matters to you?
Identify it. Decide how you’ll respond. Then take one step to get back on track.
Your goals deserve more than good intentions. They deserve your continued commitment, especially when following through isn’t easy.
