EnVISION the Future You Want
One of the most important things that we can do to take charge of our future is to envision the future that we want instead of the one that we don’t.
When we worry, complain, or otherwise focus on the negative, we give energy to those things.
Worry is like praying for what we don’t want; because, as we know, energy flows where focus goes.
One of the best ways to get in a positive habit of focusing on what we want is with a Vision board.
A vision board is a visual representation of goals in various areas of our life.
My students at KMMA are currently working on theirs and, in addition to their martial arts training and rank goals, they also include images that speak to who they want to be and what they want to accomplish in their personal, professional, academic, athletic, and social lives.
We move in the direction of our dominant thoughts.
Our thoughts are as responsible for the results we get as the rest of our choices.
Our nutrition and exercise create our health and fitness.
Our self-defense training determines our preparedness.
Our choices of association contribute to or detract from the quality of our life.
And our beliefs, attitude and thoughts affect all these things and many others.
There’s a reason so many of the most important books ever written have the word “think” in the title…
Think about it. 😉
On a serious note, let me know of you’d like some recommendations on the books I’m referring to.
In the meantime, guard your thoughts.
Be cognizant of what you allow into you mind.
And be deliberate about what you think about.
This is one of the most important things we help students do at my academy, by the way.
People get in shape and learn the most practical self-defense in the world as well.
But, most of all, we learn to control our thoughts.
The ability to do that controls all the rest.
