3 Important reminders for your happiness today

1. Put Your Focus On What You Can Control- In these times of uncertainty, remember this:

    • The best way to eliminate anxiety over all that you can’t control is to Focus on what you can!

      • It’s also the best way to get more of what you do want and less of what you don’t. Energy flows where focus goes.

    • There is a circle of concern, which are all the things I care about. There is also a circle of control, which are the things that I can do something proactive about. It is only where these two intersect that I should invest my time, energy and focus. This will make me more happy, less anxious and more effective too.

2. Focus On Your Blessings

  • As I stated already, energy flows where Focus goes. When we focus on all we have, instead of what we do not- when we exercise Gratitude- we get more to be grateful for!

3. Focus On What You Have In Common Instead of What You Don’t

    • One of the things I love most about martial arts is that when we bow onto the mat we can leave all things behind. As we cinch our belt, walk on the mat and bow we consciously dismiss:

      • our worries.

      • our troubles.

      • our mistakes.

      • our stress.

  • Our differences- race, religion, gender, political persuasion and all other differences are irrelevant. What does matter is that:

  •  We are all there to become the best version of ourselves.
        •  We become one with our dojo community. In our dojo people training together come from different careers, educational backgrounds, religions, political persuasions and other beliefs; but that is all irrelevant because we leave these things outside and focus instead “on our quest to be our best”!

  • Instead of focusing on our differences we focus on the things we have in common, that we all care about, and that we are grateful for and can control.

  • This is what we should focus on in all groups that we choose to be a part of.
