What Does It Really Mean to Start Strong?
As we get ready for a new season, I want to talk to you about something that is very important to me.
Starting Strong.
People sometimes think starting strong means you have to already be strong.
You don’t.
You don’t have to be in great shape.
You don’t have to be confident.
You don’t have to know anything about martial arts.
And you certainly don’t have to be young.
You just have to make a decision.
One of the things I tell our students is this:
Every Black Belt was a White Belt first.
Every Black Belt started somewhere.
That first step is where the journey begins.
For a child, that first step might be learning to focus, becoming more confident, learning respect and discipline, and discovering that they can do things they didn’t think they could do.
For a teenager, it might be learning how to handle challenges, build resilience, and keep going when things get difficult.
For an adult, it might simply be deciding that it’s time to get stronger, learn something new, or finally do something for yourself.
And when a family trains together, something very special happens.
You get to grow together.
That’s what I want this next season to be about.
Not just getting back into a routine.
Moving forward.
Wherever you are right now, that is the place you start.
Five years old? It’s a great time to start.
Fifty, sixty, or beyond? It’s a great time to start.
Because it’s not where you start that matters.
It’s where you finish.

I made this short video because I want to personally invite you to take that first step.
