The Impact You Have On Others

You may forget a conversation you had today. Someone else might remember it for a lifetime.

The way we respond to people matters.

And, if you’re a leader or person of influence in someone’s life can carry weight for greater than you meant or realized.

A few encouraging words can give someone the confidence to keep going. A little patience can help someone feel understood. And a dismissive comment or a harsh reaction can leave someone questioning themselves long after the moment has passed.

We don’t always know what someone else is dealing with.

The person who seems difficult might be having a hard day.
The student struggling with a technique might already feel discouraged.
The teammate who makes a mistake might need encouragement more than criticism.

We have a choice in how we make people feel when they interact with us.

This doesn’t mean avoiding difficult conversations or agreeing with everyone. It means treating people with respect, choosing our words thoughtfully, and remembering that strength and kindness can exist together.

This is a big part of the many leadership skills we develop through our Blackbelt Leadership Program at KMMA.

Communication isn’t about what you’re meant to say as much as what the person hears and like all skills, communication can be taught, learned, developed and improved!

What if your child could learn to express themselves in a more positive, effective and meaningful way?

What if you could?

We can all benefit from improving our communication skills — they are the currency of
emotion, influence, even inspiration!
