Take action

In Ch. 19 of his great book Goals!, Brian Tracy shares that the number one trait of highly successful people is action orientation.

“Successful people are intensely action oriented. They seem to move faster than unsuccessful people. They are busier. They try more things and they try harder. They start a little earlier and they stay a little later. They are in constant motion. Unsuccessful people, on the other hand, start at the last moment necessary and quit at the first moment possible.”

Through my own experience, observation and study, I have found this to be true.

The old business cliche that “if you want something done, give it to a busy person” is based on this phenomenon.

I am always amazed at the number of people who say they want something, and then do nothing about it.

I guess it’s just something to say, or a way of feeling better about not doing whatever they would do if (insert whatever excuse) didn’t preclude them from doing it.

“Your success in life is largely determined by what you do after you do what you are expected to do.”

I had a great time sharing this success principle with students this week.

From my facebook yesterday:

Today I shared the lesson that “Your Success is largely determined by what you do after you do what you’re expected to do.” Then I let the adults in our leadership rank camp share how they have applied the principle in their own lives to become successful. It’s going great!

The first step towards accomplishing anything worthwhile though is to, well, take the first step.

Noone can be a Blackbelt without becoming a white belt first.

It’s how winning is done.

Set the goal.

Create the plan.

Take action!

Starting with that first step.

Incidentally I am always also amazed at the people that opt in on one of my facebook ads, or the website, and then never even make it to the first class of their free 2 week Orientation and Intro program.

I always wonder what changed in the short time since they raised their hand.

Is it fear that keeps one from coming in?

Distraction?

Or were they never even really interested in the first place?

I’m not sure but, if any of these applies to you, make it in for your trial classes!

You have nothing to lose and so much to gain!

And congratulations to all the students who do get in and start the process!

I get so many great testimonials from you all about what the program is doing for you every day!

So what do you want to accomplish?

Get fit? Walk in confidence because you know that you can defend yourself?

Have fun, make new friends and surround yourself in a community of winners that are goal oriented just like you?

Or perhaps it’s for your kids to be confident, focused, disciplined and possess the physical, mental and emotional skills to get great grades and say no to negative peer pressure?

Which is it?

And what are you going to do about it?

Take Action!
