Sleep
So, I almost skipped my writing this morning, as I am kind of tired (I’m writing this Monday for Tuesday delivery by the way)…
but then I realized that some of my best writing comes when I am totally transparent anyway, so I may as well be transparanet about this.
You see, I’m feeling a little less than optimal today, because I didn;t sleep well, nor long enough.
I was up several times through the night, at like oneish, threeish and then at five, when I went ahead and got up.
My normal sleeping window is ten to six, by the way; and I often am up a couple of times…
so I guess it was that extra hour, from five to 6 that makes all the difference.
Now, as I am writing this I want to share a few important points:
- though I feel less than optimal, it will not affect my performance today (well yesterday when you read this ). I’ve still already done my morning RECET (reading, evaluation, coffee, exercise and training), and this is the beginning of my COPS (creation, optimization, people, statistics) time… tonight I will SOAR (sow, observe, affirm and renew). In fact I get to run the classes tonight (yesterday)! So let me know if they were AWESOME (because that’s always my goal) if you made it!
- for me, it sems 8 hours a day is optimal. it may be the same, or a little more or less for you. According to the National Sleep Foundation, adults between 25 and 64 years of age need an average of 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. Adults 65 and older need 7 to 8 hours per night. This is based on public health recommendations, but internal and external factors may change the number of hours you need.
- I also believe that it’s not only important how long you sleep, but that you create a regular pattern and stick to it.
That latter advice is true of everything, isn’t it?
When we eat, exercise, read, write, work or any other productive habit you wish to develop…
the more routine it becomes, the better the chance that it actually happens.
This is why we also have students choose the 2-3 specific days per week they’ll come to class.
Habit creates consistency.
Wouldn’t you agree?
This is why I created the 3 acronyms to manage the 3 parts of my day, by the way.
As I explained in my facebook live the day I created them, they may seem silly to some, but I wanted an easy and fast way to make sure I was doing the things I say that I want to every day.
It’s a hack for me…
what are some “hacks” that you use to create order, discipline and success in your life?
