Sensei Allie Is Doing Good

hello KMMA tribe, and future students.

Today I wanted to first give you a quick update on Sensei Allie.

She had a successful surgery yesterday, and they were able to remove the concerning tumor, and she is recovering nicely.

She will be back here with the team and helping empower young lives through our martial arts and leadership program soon (like in a couple/few weeks)!

Today I celebrate her, as well as the rest of my team.

Most everyone that teaches at KMMA grew up with me here, and I am proud of and grateful for each and all of them.

In case you hadn’t read it, this is a blog Sensei Allie wrote a while ago that I think you may enjoy.

We’ll keep you appraised and see you soon!

Speaking of Blackbelt Leaders and about seeing you soon, I had a great time teaching last night, with Sensei Winston and Sensei Lydia, and I was impressed with how great all our great students did on testing too!

I’ll be sharing the floor all week so, I hope to see you soon!

That’s a pic of my Blackbelt class last night by the way.

What a a great group.

I’m proud of and grateful for them all too.

As they came in last night, I jokingly said to one of them that I’d been teaching all night just to get to the reward of teaching their class next.

Upon reflection, I realized how true that is.

Everyone in the Blackbelt class is there because of all the basic, intermediate and advanced classes they did to get there, and all the great instructors who taught all those classes along the way too.

When I think about the journey of 1000 steps that begun for my academy 24 years ago, I am grateful for all the great teachers and mentors I’ve had, in the decades before we opened in October of 2000, and in the decades since.

And I am grateful for all the great Blackbelt Leaders that grew here and then helped carry the legacy to the next generations too.
