One Conversation That Reminded Me Why We Do This

When I opened Krav Maga Martial Arts in October of 2000, I never imagined just how many lives this journey would touch.

Today, I am incredibly proud and grateful for the thousands of students and families who have been part of our community over the past 25+ years.

People often think our goal is to create Blackbelts – and it is. We are passionate about developing confident, competent Blackbelt Leaders.

But that’s only part of the story.

Every student who walks through our doors grows in some way. Even students who never earn a black belt leave stronger than when they started. Parents grow alongside their children. Families become closer. Confidence replaces doubt. Discipline becomes a habit. Respect becomes a way of life.

In fact, we’ve even impacted children who never enrolled in our school.

For decades, we’ve partnered with local schools through our PE Teacher for the Day program and other community events. Just recently, my wife and I were having dinner when a young woman recognized me. She came over and asked if I was the martial arts instructor who used to visit Lake Myrtle Elementary.

She smiled and said, “That was my favorite day every year. It meant so much when you came and taught our PE classes.”

Moments like that remind me why we do what we do.

Our mission has never been limited to the students who wear our uniforms. It’s about helping young people become more focused, more respectful, more confident, and better prepared for whatever life puts in front of them.
