On Playing All Out

In this week’s classes I have been teaching on the Quality of a Champion we call Intensity, and the Blackbelt Superpower we call Confidence.

I love this lesson plan, because it’s not only fun to teach, but I would put those two Blackbelt Leadership benefits at the top of the list when it comes to predicting someone’s future success- in the martial arts, in school, at work or business, in relationships…

well, at anything worth doing well really.

In the lesson my team and I talk to the students about what it means to take Intensity “out of the dojo and into the world”.

In other words, how to apply the lesson outside of our Krav Maga Martial Arts training…

in the physical lessons, students experience all kinds of ways to enhance their physical and mental intensity, as applies to their training limits, mental limits, and self-defense.

But, the manifestation of the same quality, Intensity, in the world- in a relationship, school, work. mission- is equally important but looks different.

Intensity means giving our very, very best at whatever we do.

It means playing all out!

Those that wield the Blackbelt Quality of Intensity leave nothing on the table when it comes to being their best!

And that is why they very often are.

The other side of the lesson we’re teaching is about Confidence.

We ask the students, “why are intensity and confidence inter-related?”

The answer is because when we work intensely at anything for long enough, we become good or even great at it.

And with this competence comes Confidence- the Blackbelt Superpower perhaps most predictive of one going on to do great things in life.

In closing, I have a few questions for you- or, more appropriately, one for you for wherever you are in the law of the process.

  1. If you’re not training yet, why not? Click here to begin your journey and make 2023 your best year ever as you play all out!
  2. If you are a student but not yet in the Blackbelt Leadership Program, are you playing all out to qualify?
  3. If you are in the program, are you playing all out during out Blackbelt goal setting season?
    1. have you made and hung your Vision board from the ceiling of the academy yet?
    2. are you making your 2-3 classes per week consistently?
    3. are you preparing for your testing in a couple of weeks?

Wherever we are in the process, we need to be playing all out!

Truth is, I just made some enhancements to my Instructor Training and Development program to serve them even better!

I got some ideas from a great book I was reading and, not only applied the ideas to the process immediately, but my team and I are now reading the book together towards providing even better service and Unreasonable Hospitality to our students in 2023!
