Mentoring and 3 Things Tony Robbins Told Me

Watch the facebook live version.

Or read on here!

I first want to talk a little on mentoring.

I believe, after 22 years running my leadership development academy, and about 30 of progressive leadership development (since my commission as an Army Officer in 1992), that everyone should at all times both have a mentor and be one.

We all I need a mentor because we all should be growing, and progressing, to our next level. One of the secrets of success AND fulfillment, is progress; we never arrive.

But, most of us have developed some expertise in some areas of life, and we are also wired for “giving back”. So I also think it’s important to be mentoring others.

Whether that’s coaching kids, mentoring those you lead at work, or at church or some other organization, mentoring others is also important and fulfilling.

Today, I am grateful for Grandmaster Jeff Smith, who is here visiting and is one of my personal mentors.

And I am grateful that I get to mentor a great team, including Sensei Thomas, Sensei Mackenzie and others, and of course also, to some degree, every student at Krav Maga Martial Arts.

Another of my mentors is the great Tony Robbins.

Now Tony is of that quality of mentor whom I don’t know personally, but whom I learn from through books, audios, videos and courses.

This morning he was discussing the different types of wealth- beyond the financial kind that we normally think about when we think of wealth.

He discussed:

  1. Physical Health, fitness and energy as wealth;
  2. Emotional control and state as wealth;
  3. Relationships as wealth.

I felt inspired because I thought about this:

these are 3 of the main benefits we deliver through our mission at Krav Maga Martial Arts.

We help make people wealthy. 🙂
