Meditations on Mastery

Humility in Preparation, Confidence in Execution

HUMILITY in preparation…

CONFIDENCE in execution.

I get a daily email from another leader teacher named Andy Frisella; he runs a multi-million fitness company and his leadership program is called the Arete Syndicate.

I took the following excerpt from today to share with you because I think it is relevant and useful for you- for all of us:

I see so many people get demolished because they start getting too comfortable believing their own news clippings about how amazing they are.

Everybody gets a few wins.

Not everybody CONSTANTLY wins.

And what separates these two groups is one’s ability to critique themselves…

And learn and improve from that…

And repeat that process over and over and over again for life.

You need to realize how much you don’t know.

It’s really hard to learn new skills if you think you already know everything.

HUMILITY in preparation…

CONFIDENCE in execution.

by the way, here’s the link to Arete Syndicate.

It would be wrong to share what Andy said without sharing what he’s promoting.

Having said that, I also want to springboard off of what he said to talk about our program, because I think the principle- HUMILITY in preparation, CONFIDENCE in execution is SO important!

·         One of our motto here has always been “Pray for the Best and Train for the Worst”.

·         I pray that none of my students ever has to apply the real world self defense of our program; but, having said that, there is chaos about us today and the time to prepare is now. We must remain humble enough to train hard, consistently, with the attitude that our good enough is never good enough, so that we may defend CONFIDENTLY if need be.

·         But this principle applies to school and work and business too! The challenges created by the CORONAVIRUS situation have created hardships for many and bankrupted some. And for many of us we realized that we have to do even better at all that we do to be prepared for the next time a crisis hits.

Our Blackbelt Leadership program is second to none at preparing students to be better students, business leaders to be better leaders, parents and other leaders to deal better with the challenges of that responsibility too.

Our mission is Empowering Lives Through Martial Arts, and empowering includes better preparedness, confidence and leadership for all our students and for YOU! and Krav Maga Martial Arts have been empowering lives through the martial arts in the Tampa Bay area for 20 years!
