Great Schools Don’t Happen By Accident…

Those two little bitties in the front of me are now Shihan Winston and Sensei Mackenzie. Sensei Allie, Shihan Carolyn, Shihan Harley and Sensei Diego are in the picture too. But they were all just kids then…well, not just kids- KMMA Blackbelt Leaders in the making!

One of the things I’ve learned over the years is that great schools don’t happen by accident.

Great students don’t happen by accident.

Great leaders don’t happen by accident.

Behind every confident child, every successful Black Belt, and every student who learns to overcome fear, adversity, and self-doubt, there is a system.

This week I’ve been spending time working on the next evolution of KMMA’s Black Belt Leadership Academy.

Not because our program isn’t already working.

   Because it is.

It’s great.

But at KMMA we believe in CANI (constant and never-ending improvement).

We are building new curriculum maps, new leadership lessons, new instructor training systems, and new academy structures designed to help every student receive the same world-class experience no matter which class they attend, which instructor teaches it, or which KMMA location they train at.

   Why?

Because our mission has never been to simply teach punches and kicks.

Our mission is to create confident, competent Black Belt Leaders.

Young people who know how to focus.

  Students who show respect.

  Leaders who develop discipline.

Individuals who build confidence, gratitude, and vision.

As we move into summer and the second half of 2026, our team is working hard behind the scenes to make KMMA stronger than ever.

Because your family deserves our best.

And because the future leaders sitting in our classes today deserve a program that continues to grow right alongside them.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your family’s journey.

See you on the mat.
