I have had a beautiful weekend in Middleburg Florida with my wife, Barbara, and my eldest son, Harley.
Barbara is also our KMMA Program Director and Shihan Harley is also a Master Instructor at the school.
We came to Middleburg to spend some time with my friend Master Jan Lappin and her Team at Middleburg Martial Arts.
Master Lappin runs one of the most successful programs in the country and I, being the consummate student, came to learn all that I can.
Shihan Harley and I also got to sow into the Middleburg staff and students with our special brand of Krav Maga Martial Arts.
The students, the team and Master Lappin herself all loved it.
I of course had an amazing time sharing what I love, and also showing off the physical self defense skills of Shihan Harley- after all, he’s not only my son but a product of the product, and walking proof of what our system really does.
But the point of this email, my meditation, is that I both gave and took on this visit.
I shared freely what we do with the Middleburg Team, and they shared graciously what they do with us too.
This is how life should be.
It is neither healthy to be always taking, nor the opposite extreme of only giving.
I believe that if we are consciously looking for, and trying to, make this equation true, we can always find like minded people willing to share their wisdom and resources and with whom we can share our own.
It’s a win-win equation because both givers leave the interaction with more than which they came.
