Fulfilling the Prophecy

When I tie a whitebelt on a new student at KMMA, I always speak a prophecy over their life that they will be a Confident and Competent Blackbelt Leader one day.

I also tell them how my favorite thing to do is to tie Blackbelts on students, and my second is tying whitebelts- because a Blackbelt is a whitebelt that never quit.

I believe that one of the things that we can do, as parents, leaders and teachers is to speak prophecy over the lives of those we lead, and then to show them how to fulfill that prophecy.

The words we speak are important, because there is life and death in the tongue, and what we speak over our kids will stay with them long after they grow up and start their adult lives.

And we must equip them with the lessons, attitudes and dare I say it, Superpowers, to fulfill the prophecy in their lives.

In my book Developing Your Superpower, and my program at Krav Maga Martial Arts, we teach the Foundational Blackbelt Superpowers of Focus, Respect, Discipline, Confidence, Gratitude and Vision.

Then Chapter 7 of the book, and a big part of the Blackbelt journey at KMMA, is discovering one’s own unique superpower(s) too, because these help us determine what we’re called to do.

I believe that every person has a unique and special calling that God has equipped them especially to do.

It is our job to discover it, and then develop the skills and attitudes to fulfill the prophecy, become the highest version of ourselves and do what we were called to do.

My calling is creating confident and competent Blackbelt Leaders, prepared to survive, thrive and lead into whatever they are called to do.

In addition to developing the Blackbelt Superpowers, and other character and Blackbelt leadership skills, another important part of fulfilling the prophecy is the principle of What’s Important Now and Next (WIN).

Here’s the lesson of the week I gave on that this week btw.

Speaking of What’s Important Next (WIN), what’s yours or your family’s on your Blackbelt Leadership journey?

If you’re not a student yet, perhaps it’s to start that journey in 2024!

I have attached a special gift certificate so you can start the year strong!

Call Sensei John at 813-948-4844 and hold your spot to start in January!

If you are a student, it’s to pass your test this week!

(call Sensei Allie if you need to schedule a time to do so this week or some make-up classes or a make up date! don’t fall behind! we want you graduating to the next step with us in January!)

If you are a Basic student, perhaps your WIN is to qualify for and step up into the Blackbelt Training or Blackbelt Leadership Program!

Sensei John can schedule that meeting for you too.

If you are a Blackbelt Candidate or Blackbelt, your WIN is the Crucible Prep Cycle for the March Blackbelt Test & Retreat!

And perhaps also to step into leadership. If you’re interested in training up to be a Sensei, email me and we can talk about that.

By the way, WIN next week is enjoying the winter break with your family.

To my Christian brethren, have a blessed Christmas and to all a great New Year’s Eve.

But make sure to identify your what’s important next (WIN) this week first.

And then do something to solidify that step.

Schedule the intro class or leadership meeting.

Invest some time preparing your 2024 goals.

Team KMMA and I are doing our Goal Setting Workshop Friday.

You and yours have some great prophecies to fulfill.

We are proud and grateful to help you do it!

Recently, I was on travel and started my day at 2:30 am to catch a morning flight back to Tampa so I could attend my son’s KMMA Blackbelt Leadership School ceremony. I am inspired every time I go. As a retired military officer, I had numerous leadership classes and training opportunities over the past three decades with the majority of my professional career focused on leading others. However, those leadership programs start later in life when most character traits and mindsets have been formed. There are too few places parents can enroll their children that instill true leadership values with character development while practicing standards of excellence for personal and professional growth; Tampa KMMA is one of those places!
The leadership principles taught in the KMMA Blackbelt Leadership School aligns with principles taught to adult leaders in professional programs like the ones I attended. Students learn to be leaders first then protectors when necessary. While KMMA is a practical self-defense and good exercise, the leadership program and character development is what makes it stand out from other activities. To be surrounded with adults and students of all ages who encourage core values is a treasure, not to mention the safe environment that is created within the KMMA tribe – they take care of each other. The disciplines taught in KMMA leadership school are refreshing and reinforce time-tested virtues like self-discipline, persistence, integrity, focus, respect, work ethic and motivation in addition to self-defense.
As parents, we make investments into our children every day one way or another. I decided I wanted to invest in my son’s potential rather than deal with potential issues later. Leadership and character development are lessons, once learned, no one can take away; they are assets that keep giving over the course of a lifetime. I am truly grateful for the vision of Grandmaster Stephen Del Castillo and Grandmaster Jeff Smith for making KMMA more than a business; it is a community that cares. They have committed a lifetime of service to others that is making a positive impact in families.
My son’s life has not been the same since joining KMMA. We tried various activities to include Scouts and sports but nothing else resonated with him like this leadership program. In the past year, he has transformed into a stronger student who is more motivated with a positive attitude. He is demonstrating new leadership skills, making better decisions, and his confidence is growing. More importantly, he understands he is accountable for his growth and has a responsibility to be a good student at school, home, and KMMA.
I sincerely appreciate everything KMMA leaders have invested into children in the Tampa Bay community. Their partnership with parents is making a difference and producing the future leaders of leaders in the next generation.
Respectfully,
Sonya D. Ferreira
