Do you ever get down?

I do.

Probably many people in my tribe can’t believe that’s true.

As a proponent and teacher of positive mental attitude, it may seem that I am just blessed with consummate happiness.

But, of course, that’s not true.

Sometimes people let me down.

Sometimes I let myself down.

Sometimes I’m just tired and overworked.

Or worried about something….

Or just melancholy about my kids growing up so fast, or struggling in some area of that all important and all challenging job of raising them up in the way they should go.

Other times I’m just overwhelmed with all I have to do and wonder how I’ll ever get it all done; or rather I’m doing enough.

Do any of these resonate with you?

Perhaps you’ve experienced some of the same, or other challenges that get you down.

Here are some of the tools I use that help me get back on the positive track, and be able to answer “super fantastic, but i’ll get better” honestly, when asked how I am doing.

  1. I focus on the things that I want instead of the things that I don’t want.
  2. I reflect upon, and remember, all the things that I have to be grateful for and all the times God has helped me through situations harder than this.
  3. I pray.
  4. I try to focus only on the things that I can control, and not the things that I can not. Some obvious, yet often overlooked, exclusions being the past and other people’s behavior and choices.
  5. Though this may seem a little like a restatement of #1, I get in my planner, get focused on my goals and my most important tasks for the day and then I,
  6. Take massive action! It almost always makes me feel instantly better.
  7. I always speak into existence what I want. That’s why my answer is and will always be “super fantastic, but i’ll get better”. As a man of my word, this simple affirmation helps me remember to always take the steps to ensure it is true.

I hope these steps prove useful to you.

By the way, my daily prayer and meditation, as well as exercise, reading and writing really help me stay positive too.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read this.

And for all you do as my student, family, friend or just a member of my KMMA tribe.

Another thing that helps me stay ever positive is knowing that my contributions make a positive difference in other people’s lives.

Thank you,

She lays down some great wisdom on that all important and all challenging job of raising them up in the way they should go I was talking about!
