Beware, It’s Contagious…
Today I wanna talk about a threat at least as dangerous and at least as contagious as almost any virus.
It’s done more to kill dreams and ruin lives too.
Yet, many or even most are oblivious to the harmful affects of this very common and extremely contagious threat.
Before I come right out with it, allow me to caveat with the fact that I am not in any way diminishing anyone’s concerns about getting sick and, while I do think that there were many overreactions to the corona pandemic that were more harmful than the virus itself, I also know someone who died from it; so I am certainly not making light of what happened.
And, at any rate, this blog isn’t about that.
I’ll also lead with the good news.
While the negative strain is extremely harmful, the positive one is extremely helpful.
And, more great news, we possess the technology to turn the negative into the positive and thus undo the damage done, repair, rebuild and build forward better, stronger and faster than before!
If you’re already a student, chances are that you have already figured out that I am talking about Attitude.
A positive attitude is the anecdote for almost anything– negativity, anxiety, fear, despair or even external threats, problems or danger…
a positive attitude is amongst the top three most important tools to deal with any of these!
A positive attitude can make the impossible possible!
A negative attitude, conversely, makes the improbable impossible, the possible improbable and can even turn a blessing into a curse.
In short, a positive attitude gives us, any and all of us, our very best chance to survive and thrive in any situation, while a negative one minimizes our chances of success, zaps the energy of the host and everyone around him or her, and makes life downright harder.
Now, it doesn’t escape me that a negative person will disagree with everything I just said.
One who has truly embraced this way of thinking has an excuse for every solution, an alibi for every failure and is a self professed victim of everything and everybody else.
And, by the way, like so many things that seem more prevalent today because of social media and mass media and other generally negative inputs to our “reality”, this sickness is nothing new.
The battle between these two ways of thought has been raging for thousands of years.
Negative and positive thinkers have existed and influenced others since antiquity.
So what do we know?
We know that each of us decides, every moment of every day which way we’ll choose to be.
Will we focus on what’s wrong or focus on what’s right?
Energy flows where focus goes, so that decision is paramount.
If it were me (and it is, as well as it is you and everyone) I would (and do) do 3 things:
1. Choose to be positive. Repel the negative thoughts as they enter your mind.
2. Speaking of your mind, beware what you allow in it. Our associations influence our attitude more than anything- what we listen to, what we read and whom we spend time with. Try to start and end each day with positive thoughts and positive associations. Try your best to limit the negative associations in your life. Bad attitudes are contagious!
3. Join our tribe. We are a tribe of positive minded, empowering individuals on getting better every day.
Every day’s a great day at KMMA!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this by the way, feel free to reply with comments or questions.
Make it a great day and see you soon!
