A David Moment (and a Lesson I Needed to be Reminded of)

Today I had the privilege of doing something that felt both simple and sacred.

I took my wife and my grandson to see the new David movie.

I’ve read the biblical account many times. I’ve studied David’s life for decades. I’ve seen different adaptations over the years.

And yet, this one was still a worthwhile watch. I would highly recommend it to my Christian and Jewish friends—and honestly, to anyone who appreciates great storytelling, leadership lessons, and timeless truth.

What struck me most wasn’t just David’s courage or his victory over Goliath.

It was the reminder of where the credit belongs.

David was bold.
David was skilled.
David was faithful.

But David never confused being used by God with being the source.

Again and again, the story points us back to this truth:
The victory belongs to the Lord.

That hit home for me.

As I reflected on the movie—and on my own life and work—I felt deeply grateful. Grateful for God’s hand of favor. Grateful for His protection. Grateful that He has made crooked paths straight, directed my steps, and entrusted me with a mission and calling far greater than I could fulfill on my own.

Any good that has come through my life, my family, or my business is because He works through me—not because of me.

I’m honored to play my part.
I’m grateful for the leaders He has placed around me.
And I give Him all the glory—past, present, and future.

David didn’t build monuments to himself.
He pointed people to God.

That’s a leadership lesson worth remembering.

If you see the movie, I hope it reminds you—as it reminded me—to walk boldly, lead courageously, prepare wisely, and always give credit where it truly belongs.

With gratitude,
