A Blessing or a Curse

Today I am grateful for the gift of leadership; it’s a huge responsibility, but preparedness makes it a great adventure and a Blessing instead of a curse.

I was thinking about a teachable moment I was about to have with a follower when I wrote this, and how every leadership interaction we have with anyone is an opportunity to do good or do harm.

The gift of leadership is a huge responsibility because of this. Our leadership behavior and decisions have huge impact. We are responsible for the happiness, productivity, effectiveness, growth and prosperity of those we lead. Our leadership affects their lives and their livelihoods.

Leadership is not to be taken lightly.

That’s why I am grateful for the decades of great leadership training and experience I have gained through military, corporate and business experience, as well as through the training for my MBA and the great tutelage from great leadership mentors in the martial arts, military and other pursuits.

Because leadership is like real world self defense; you don’t know for sure when you are going to need it, but hope to be prepared when you do.

I am also grateful that today the biggest parts of my mission are leading other leaders and preparing tomorrow’s leaders today.
