Grateful for the Ride
Today I’m grateful for the ride;
both the beautiful couple hundred miles that I did through beautiful country roads and in the best of weather yesterday, but also in the metaphorical way I will use “The Ride” today.
Yesterday, as I rode my Harley Ultra Classic nowhere, I had the meditation about the difference in my vehicles, and the purposes they serve.
My car is a destination vehicle. It’s job is to get me from place A to place B safely and reliably and, in the case of my little Fiesta, economically too.
The car is great at getting me where I want to go in the shortest, most direct and fastest way possible.
Alternatively, I ride my Harley for the pure joy of it.
I ride far away from home with no particular way to go and no particular plan to get there.
I just ride. I ride because I enjoy it and I ride because it renews me.
Along a particularly beautiful stretch of road below a beautiful tree canopy, and with curves and hills to add to the experience, I smiled with the first of many revelations that I couldn’t wait to write about, in my morning Meditations On Mastery, and from my Sunday moving meditations, came to me.
Our Krav Maga Martial Arts Blackbelt Leadership vehicle is like both my car and my motorcycle.
Like the car, my program will get you where you want to go.
We help people accomplish their goals, for themselves and their families.
They have fun, get fit and learn practical self defense; they develop Confidence.
Parents see Focus developed in kids that lack it, self control in high energy children, and confidence and self esteem emerge in shy and timid ones. They all learn respect, gratitude and vision as well as other success skills too.
The Blackbelt Leadership program prepares and empowers youth for success in their futures, in school, relationships and career.
We develop tomorrow’s leaders today and empower current leaders to lead better also.
The vehicle will get the student and their family where they want to go.
But the program is like my Harley too.
People come to have fun, for stress relief, for inner peace, and for meaningful relationships.
Our students love our community and the way they feel every time they come.
They “ride” not only for the destination, but also for the journey…..
This was one of several metaphorical meditations I had about the ride yesterday.
I’ll share more later, in future blogs or on my podcast, or maybe even you’ll hear them live during a class at my school.
But for today, I am just grateful for the ride.
I’m grateful for all of you riding with us.
Enjoy the journey! The destination will come before you know it but, on the way to Blackbelt Leadership excellence and beyond, and the getting of your goals-
Enjoy the journey.
Memories of the ride will stay with you long after you got where you were going and accomplished what you set out to do.
I’ll close by saying this….
We Harley riders wave to each other along the way.
It’s an acknowledgement of a shared lifestyle and experience that riders know other riders share.
KMMA Blackbelts, and students on their way to Blackbelt, are the same.
We share the values, ethics and experience along the way.
Make sure to waive.
