25 Years Ago This Was Just a Dream
More than 25 years ago, this was just a dream.
A dream of building something bigger than a martial arts school.
A place where students wouldn’t just learn how to punch and kick.
But where they would learn how to lead.
Where they would develop focus.
Where they would build discipline.
Where they would gain the confidence to face challenges in life.
Where they would become Blackbelt Leaders.
One of the very first days of KMMA — and one of my earliest students in my arms. My eldest son Harley, who’s 25 years old today.
Over the years, thousands of students have stepped onto the mats at Krav Maga Martial Arts.
Children who were shy became confident.
Kids who struggled with focus developed discipline.
Students who once doubted themselves learned to believe in their own potential.
Families grew stronger together.
Friendships were built.
Leaders were developed.
And through every season — the easy ones and the challenging ones — the mission never changed.
Develop confident and competent Blackbelt Leaders.
Today, that dream is entering its next chapter.
Our new 3,300 square foot KMMA Headquarters is almost ready.
The mirrors are up.
The mats will be down this week.
And soon that floor will be filled with students once again learning the lessons that last a lifetime.
But the most important part of this journey has never been the building.
It’s the people.
The students.
The families.
The instructors.
The community.
Because martial arts isn’t just about what happens on the mat.
It’s about who you become because of it.
The other night I had the privilege of giving a preview to some of our founding supporters inside the new headquarters. In this short talk, I share the vision for the next 25 years of KMMA.
Looking back over the past 25 years fills me with gratitude.
Looking ahead fills me with excitement.
Because the best chapters of the KMMA story are still ahead.
